The Rural Bank of Labason (Zamboanga del Norte), Incorporated, a dynamic banking institution with a vision to provide fast, reliable, innovative and client-friendly services to the community opened its new ATM service on August 8, 2011. In partnership with Electronic Network Cash Tellers, Inc. (ENCASH), this ATM service caters to clients not only in the municipality of Labason but also in the neighboring towns of Baliguian, Gutalac, Kalawit and Liloy
On the opening day, 586 clients were served coming from as far as Baliguian, Kalawit, Gutalac and Liloy, all of Zamboanga del Norte.
The opening of the ATM is indeed a reprieve for the people of Labason and its surrounding neighbors. Fare from these towns to the nearest ATM located in Sindangan and Ipil which is more than 80 kilometers away varies from P 200.00 to P 500.00. The ATM provides convenient and swift financial service to the people of Labason and beyond, whether they be government employees, teachers, pensioners, recipients of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW), businessmen, students and most especially, the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program Beneficiaries (4P’s) belonging to different tribes - Badjaos, Muslims, Subanens, Kalibugans, Chinese as well as Christians.
The site blessing was witnessed by Municipal Mayor Wilfredo S. Balais, Municipal Social Work Development Officer Ms. Catherine H. Balais, PNP Chief of Police Helen Limen Galvez, Bank President Atty. Angel M. Carloto, Vice President Dr. Lourdes C. Labiano, Atty. Abelardo M. Carloto, the Board of Directors, the Stockholders, Municipal Councilors, Barangay Captains and various department heads of the local government as well as the general public.
The Rural Bank of Labason continues to uphold its commitment to serve the masses as the new ATM caters to more and more clients every day.
