ENCASH is making a name for itself in the rural areas, simply by providing its ATM services to Filipinos of all cultures.
In Mindoro, ENCASH happily serves the indigenous Filipino, the Mangyans. The peace-loving Mangyans are comprised of several tribes who live in the mountains of Mindoro. They live by hunting and subsistence farming. Occasionally, they come down from the mountains to barter their goods and to buy their supplies. With the advent of the ENCASH ATM, they are no longer financially excluded.
Juan Miguel “Mike” Mapa, ENCASH Director, said, “We are extremely proud and privileged that we can now serve the previously unbanked and underserved members of our community.”
This development means that the Mangyans no longer have to traverse mountains and ride a boat all the way to Batangas just to withdraw money from the nearest ATM.
Meanwhile, in Zamboanga, both Christians and Muslims also benefit from the ENCASH ATMs deployed in strategic rural areas. Nono Lucrecia, General Manager of LAPMUCO said, “I find satisfaction in knowing that we are bringing together Filipinos of different faiths because of our service. We are bringing peace and community development to the grass roots.”
